St. John's, Antigua, March 21, 2000—On March 20th the Government of Antigua and Barbuda suspended the issuance of Offshore Licences. The Director of Offshore Gaming Mrs Gyneth McAllister stated that until further notice, applications would only be accepted from internationally recognized companies with sound reputations and a proven track record.

The Government has taken this step in order to put into effect the new regulatory provisions, which are necessary to meet international norms.
