Antigua
and Barbuda has introduced New Regulations governing Internet
Gaming in the jurisdiction.
The New Regulations are the result of
months of consultation and discussions between the government
of Antigua and Barbuda, leading figures in the industry, the
offshore gaming association in Antigua and Barbuda and other
international bodies.
The New Regulations address many of
the concerns expressed with regards to Internet Gaming such
as:
· Money Laundering
· Under age gaming
· Customer Protection / Rights
These New Regulations seek to protect
players and operators alike while advancing Internet Gaming.
As part of its commitment to ensuring
that the regulations are faithfully enforced, the Directorate
of Offshore Gaming the body responsible for enforcement and
regulation will, as of the introduction of the New Regulations,
no longer be part of the Free Trade and Processing Zone.
The Directorate of Offshore Gaming will
now be part of the International Financial Sector Regulatory
Authority (IFSRA). IFSRA is the body that regulates the offshore
industry in Antigua and Barbuda, which include Banks, Insurance
and Trusts.
The New Regulations and the move
to a more regulatory environment will provide stability and
protection to all participants in Internet Gaming.
